Life can bring challenges that leave us feeling lost and uncertain. Ambiguous loss, whether it be the result of migration, a missing person, chronic illness, or other circumstances, can be particularly hard to navigate. So, how can I help? I help you find clarity and peace amidst the uncertainty.
Personalized sessions to explore your feelings and develop coping strategies. Treatment is based upon needs, goals, and interests.
Support for families to navigate collective grief and improve communication.
Consultation and supervision for clinicians and school counselors. With an emphasis on international schools, transnational families, and ambiguous loss.
What I Do
In the sessions, I provide a safe and supportive environment where each person is treated in a caring and respectful manner, while being mindful of each individual’s differences and cultures. I believe that relationships among and between people are so important for change to occur. Therefore, I look at our relationship as a partnership in an effort to enhance the well-being for you, your child, and family.
Makia was exactly the counselor we needed. She always made our kids feel welcome and safe, they trusted her. Not only did she help our kids through some tough times, she was able to guide my husband and me through some challenging issues as well. I wish we had the option to keep seeing Makia when we moved back to the States. I am confident our kids would have benefited from her insight during their high school years.
